Return To Wooly Wednesday

April 20, 2011

It's Wednesday, which means the girls have dance tonight.  It also used to be my night to work on my wool hand applique projects.  Lately, I've either been too busy with other things or my dad has taken the girls to dance for me.  So, it's been quite a while since I've worked on any wool projects.  While I am LOVING every second of longarm quilting for others, it's important to me that I still take some time to work on my own projects.  I went into my cabinets last night to find something to work on when I spotted the perfect project.  Sooooo, I prepped this project last night for me to work on tonight!!
It's called "Daisy Table Mat" from Primitive Gatherings.  I love it!  I purchased it quite a while ago.  It just says "Summertime" to me.  We have had snow and cold weather again and I am in need of some serious sunshine and warm weather!  This project is perfect!!
This is what it will look like when I'm finished.  I"ll need to stitch a winding stem between the daises.  I will then applique the leaves on.  I thought it would be easier to place the leaves that way.  It's a pretty large mat at 18 inches.  It'll probably take me a few Wednesday evenings to get it done.  It's way bigger than the little candle mats I have.  I'm thinking that I may put it on the round area of my kitchen island when I get it done.  I know one little guy that will love this mat too...Scooter, my sister's kitty!!  He loves to lay on wool!  He has exceptional taste! :-)  Kristin and Scooter will be coming home Friday for Easter, but Scooter will be staying with us for a couple of weeks.  He'll think I'm working on the new table mat just for him!  LOL!

I am really looking forward to some quiet stitching time in the library tonight!!  :-)

  1. I thought "summer" as soon as I saw the wool project. A vase of fresh daisies in the middle would be oh so pretty.

  2. I didn't know you had this? I love it! Your a sewing demon, you'll have this finished in no time. But I think I like it without the background making it square. Keep the edges wavey like my Ole Saint Nick mat. Oh, and I can't wait to see what Scooter gets into next.

  20. Quite cute. I haven't done any wool for a while, and I should. How do you adhere your daisies down before stitching them? Do you pin or glue baste? Just curious. Can't wait to see your progress on it!
