I have so much I want to share about Houston that I don't know where to begin. It was an amazing trip. I guess I will start from the beginning. First of all, Nick and Lisa Bongean treated me like a rock star!! They were very gracious and very generous. They are also the hardest working team I know. I got to experience first hand all the hard work. It takes a lot of work and long hours to have the success that they do.
I left for my trip super early!!
I took this photo in the car on the way to the airport. Yikes!! I think I woke up at 3 AM to get ready. Normally, I would just throw my hair up and go, but since I was going directly to Market, I had to look decent. Lisa had a Town Car waiting at the airport to take me to Market!!!
This is Juan my driver. I think he was trying for a big tip because he thought I was significantly younger than my age. At one point he asked if I still lived at home with my mom and dad!!! Right.
I knew the convention center would be big, but I had know idea. It was baffling to me.
I know the pic quality is terrible but you get some idea. Look at how small the cars look parked in front. The convention center is like a city block long.
I arrived on the last day of Market. You cannot enter without a badge. No going to the booth to pick it up either if you leave it there the night before. :-)
It is overwhelming. I didn't know where to look first. To be honest, I walked around in a daze just trying not to trip over anyone or any thing! It is a miracle that I remembered to take any photos! I did manage a few, but I am running out of time for posting today, so I will post some tomorrow. :-)
Thank you for all the kind compliments on my last posts/quilts!!!! Made my week to read each one!!!!

Oh no! I would be so lost with out my Iphone. I can totally relate. So glad that you still have your pictures!
ReplyDeleteSo happy that you were able to experience Houston's Quilt Market! Nice of Juan to start your day off with the ultimate "don't look your age" comment! Can't wait for part 2 of your experience!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you had a good time and made it home safely.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to hear more about your experience.

The dream of most quilters...I can only imagine the "deer in the headlights" stare of newbies!
ReplyDeleteGoing to market is on my bucket list, so glad you had a great time. Can't wait to hear/see what else you have to share. Have a question on your quilting of "my favorite things"--did you go over the words "quilting" or around them as I can't tell from your pictures.
ReplyDeleteI quilted right on the lettering/stitches.
ReplyDeleteOuch! That is bad to wash your iPhone! Not cheap to replace either. Hope you bought the insurance! ;-)
ReplyDeleteGlad you had a great trip and a great time. A private car. What a rock star!
Glad you had a good trip! Someday I hope to go to The Show. Sorry to hear about your phone. Unfortunately I know the feeling. I washed our cell phone about a year ago. It wasn't until I heard the "clunk" in the dryer that I realized my husband had left it in his pocket. For the record, the dryer doesn't do much for a phone either. LOL!
ReplyDeleteHa. You made me laugh because it brought back memories of my first market. So overwhelming. Can't wait to hear more!
