This is the latest Scrap Basket Block (#12 to be exact) from Lisa Bongean. You can find it here. She has been posting these FREE patterns for blocks the last few years, challenging us to use our scraps. The blocks measure 6.5". Teeny tiny pieces!!!
Those are the smallest Flying Geese that I have made yet!!!! TEENY!!!
And I love it! :-) I have been taking 5 minutes here and there to piece and before I knew it, my block was done. I swear it took me longer to find all the scraps to make it! Block went together easy peasy! Like I said, took me longer to find the scraps to use!! I chose to press all my seams open on the back because there were so many.
Doesn't look too bad considering all those seams.
I have a little helper. Scooter is staying with us until the end of the month. Kristin brought him home for Christmas and is leaving him here until the girls' birthday.
After Scooter made quilt salad.
He looks exhausted after all his hard work. LOL!
I thought this was so sweet. He was keeping his paw on my hand while I sewed. :-) I do not have all 12 blocks done. I made the first two blocks when Lisa posted them 3 years ago, but really struggled to find scraps. Three years ago, when this started, I hardly had any scraps. I thought I would wait a bit and accumulate some before I made more blocks.
These are the first 2 blocks. A lot of Kansas Troubles fabric because that is what I had at the time. I used Instant Antique Spray on these. Instant Antique is available here. This is what they looked like before I sprayed them.
You can tell they are not as bright/white. A nice antique look to them. I have not sprayed Block 12 yet.
I am not sure if I am going to. I am still deciding. :-) I am off to tend to a sick child. :-( My girls are still off school for Christmas Break. Good that they are not missing school for illness.
