Mary Lou Hallenbeck Trunk Show

November 10, 2010

I wanted to share some of Mary Lou Hallenbeck's trunk show from Monday night.  She really put on a great show for us!  She was fun, full of energy and generous.  Several ladies went home with awesome prizes!

Mary Lou created this very cool four patch design using a variation of the stack-n-whack technique.  The squares set on point are actually four patches using this technique.  The technique gives it a kaleidoscope look.

Here is another example of a quilt with this four patch technique...
Here she used border fabric with the technique.  Such a cool idea!
She gave the traditional log cabin block a complete makeover!

Mary Lou also loves to work with gradient fabric.  These last few were some of my favorites, besides Alpine Wonder of course!

There were so many more quilts!  She has a huge trunk show.  Each quilt pattern had a wonderful story of how she thought up the design.  I'm pretty sure that after listening to her awesome lecture, this girl never sleeps!!

  1. Wow, thanks so much for sharing. The gradient fabric really sets off her work..and the'em...Since you did such an amazing job on your tree,Alpine Wonder, you should try the poinsettia or the other tree.....wouldn't that be something . . .

  2. I would love to see her four patch technique. Love the look of those blocks.

  3. That tree is just amazing. I like appliqué but have NEVER tried it since it always looks to complicated but now I am getting an itch to try it out especially since I've seen so many appliqué quilts using Kaffe Fasset fabric in a blog I follow.
