Welcome to Day 2 of the Quilted Living Book Tour! Quilted Living is the new book by Gerri Robinson of Planted Seed Designs & Fat Quarter Shop. This book is awesome!!! A wonderful variety of projects!! I am so excited to take part. Honored to have been asked.
The book title alone spoke to me. “Quilted living” is exactly how I aspire my home to be. There is nothing that creates a warm, welcoming and homey feel more than quilts. So quilts are everywhere in my home. Big and small. Not just for sleeping under. I use quilts in my decor like fine art!! 🙂 It always surprises me when I get the question “well, what do you do with that?” or “what do you need another quilt for?” First, you can never have too many quilts!!! And second, you can never have too many quilts!!! Truth.
I chose the quilt “X-ceptional” as my project. It is in the banner above, the quilt on the far right. I just immediately loved the block as soon as I saw it. When I was asked to participate in the book tour, they asked that we make our project original, to fit our lifestyle and then showcase our version in our home. That is exactly what I did!!
My version of X-ceptional is a fall inspired runner!!
It is perfect in my home!!!
I made a four block with sashing runner exactly as the pattern indicates. I just added a 2″ finished border. I used reproduction fabric for the runner. 2 dark chocolate fabrics and 2 cheddars. Yum! In Gerri’s version, she matched the pinwheels to the block, I mixed mine…cheddar pinwheel with chocolate block and vice versa.
The pattern instructions were clear and very accurate. Gerri includes every pressing direction, which made the blocks go together easily and fast!!!

After.
I quilted a gorgeous allover feather. My favorite. The finished size is 18″ x 57″.
If you have followed me, you know that I like to decorate the house seasonally and for holidays. A small quilt or runner makes it so easy to do this. X-ceptional was the perfect project for me. I could not be happier with how it turned out!
Not only does X-ceptional look great as a runner on the kitchen island, but it looks great all through the house. 🙂
Hanging on the pie safe or the back of a chair.
Fireplace hearth.
I LOVE this!!! At the bottom of my stairs before I go into my studio. Yes, that is an awesome greeting before work.
So I think I have given you lots of possibilities!!! LOL!!! That’s what I call quilted living!!
How would you like to have your very own copy of Quilted Living???
