Butter Churn Quilted

By March 23, 2011November 20th, 202027 Comments

“Butter Churn” was the Le Petite project for last November.  It is a This & That pattern by Sherri K. Falls.  The majority of the fabric is from two charm squares of Clermont Farms by Minick and Simpson.  I was reminded by someone that I never wrote a post about it being completed.  I wrote a post back in February showing it half quilted.  Another Happy Dance here because it’s another busted out UFO!!  Yippee!

I can’t believe I forgot to show it finished!!  LOL!  I love how it looks after a good bath.  All crinkly!!  I always feel the quilting just brings a top to life.  Here it is before I quilted it.

I would like to now hang it here in Annie’s studio, but we have to figure out a good way to hang things on cement walls…

I, of course have been modeling it on my table like I do most of my Le Petite projects. ๐Ÿ™‚

Tomorrow I’ll be able to show Paganini in all it’s glory.  I will be stitching down the binding tonight at the library while the girls are at dance.  I have to say…I love it!!

Cement walls? Try double stick hook and loop or Command strips. Your little churn looks great on your table too.

    I have a mini-quilt hanging on a similar wall … it hangs beneath a cupboard, too. ๐Ÿ™‚

If she doesn't mind thumbtacks, you can use clear tacks and monofilament / fishing line to hang the quilt. I used plastic o-rings to attach as hangers on the back of the quilt, the fishing line … and it looks like it's hanging directly on the wall. ๐Ÿ™‚

What a sweet little quilt! Congratulations on the finish! :0)

The quilting makes all the difference in the world, doesn't it? A quilt goes from flat to wow, just like that.

Try the Magnetficent Quilt hanger: http://www.magnificentquilt.com/

I blogged a review of it a while back. It sticks to the wall with the 3M double stick strips and uses magnets to hold your rod. You can pull the rod off and change the quilt as much as you want and the metal plate stays stuck to the wall. I have started using it for all my quilt hanging. I really like it!

So happy for you and a bit jealous of your finished project. I'm so ho-hum today. I'd probably feel better if I finished something…

I remember seeing this quilt on the frame. I like churn dash blocks. Long ones, tall ones, wide ones, short ones, wonky ones. Whatever the flavor.

    Another beauty.

Very sweet. There are special hanging hooks for cement walls. I learned of this while living in Japan where on base housing was constructed of concrete (for earthquake purposes.) Also have you thought of the 3M type of hangers that stick to the walls and are easily removed without leaving any marks?

Love it Love it Love it โ™ฅ
