Done!!!  It nearly didn’t happen due to a minor disaster.  I’ll tell you about that shortly.  Almost a Happy Dance here.  The March Le Petite project was “Endless Summer” by Pam Buda of Heartspun Quilts.  I felt for this project I wanted to change things up a bit, so  I chose to make my version into a table runner.

My kitchen island is the ideal place for a table runner and I didn’t have one, so this is perfect.  I used all fabric from Pom Pom de Paris by French General.  I love how it turned out!!  I know, big surprise since I love all fabric from French General!  It’s so pretty and cheery looking.  Trust me my kitchen deserved some cheery last night.

Do you notice something strange in this photo?  I’ll give you a hint…there is a big appliance missing in the back of the photo.  Yes, my refrigerator is missing.  Why???  It stopped working yesterday…while we were not home.  Yesterday, I walked in from work to find water everywhere!!  The freezer had completely thawed out.  Water seeped through the floor and dripped through the basement ceiling.  What a nightmare!!  I had to call Scott to come home early from work because I needed to take the girls to ballet.  Luckily the mess is now cleaned up.  Fortunately, we have a 25 year old fridge in the garage that runs like a champ!  I’m sure it’s not energy efficient, but it was made back in the time when appliances were built to last.  Looks like I will be appliance shopping this weekend.  I need to buy an over-the-range microwave too because that recently died as well.  Nice.  And I thought I was going to be able to quilt my runner too last night, HA!  I’m just thankful now that I got it pieced!

This is the original pattern design.  Very pretty.

I’m starting to decorate with Easter decor.  This little guy recently followed me home from my friend Daphne’s shop.

I can’t help, but smile whenever I look at him (or her?)!!!  πŸ™‚  So cute!!!

Even looks cute on my new runner!!  Happy April Fool’s Day everyone!!  πŸ™‚

Make sure you stop by later to see the parade of “Endless Summer” quilts on Sherri’s and Sinta’s blogs.

A dead appliance (or two) is not a good thing) I do not like to shop for appliances – ugh!

Tablerunner is adorable and I'm crazy about your new Easter decor. Very sweet.

I need to make a new runner and try my apple core with it, but have to wait for my machine to get back. Love that easter chick, so unique.

Now that is really nice! I need to make more small projects.

  • Candace says:

Well, I think the good news is the leaking didn't make it's way to Annie (at least I hope that's the case)!!! And who doesn't like to shop for new appliances (well, maybe I do – hee)! The runner is gorgeous, Linda!
    Cheers!

Love your petite runner, have you checked your house insurance? You may be covered for the loss of your food in the freezer.

  • Terry says:

Love your table runner! Sorry about the fridge…just glad you have a back-up in the garage until you can go appliance shopping!

  • Diane H says:

Your runner is sooo pretty done in that fabulous fabric. Sorry to hear about your fridge.

  • Karen says:

I have liked every piece of French General fabric I have seen though I am not purchasing it. I got enough for a Schnibble. I am afraid my quilts would all start looking alike if I bought all French General fabrics. You have the perfect location for your table runner. Good idea.

So this will be some unsolicited advice on the appliance shopping–which we recently did and saved literally 1500.00 on a frig. So we went to the local store picked out our frig then came home and searched for it on the internet and found it for 1500 less with free shipping called the local store and told them the site they verified the site and price and matched it for us! Now that is bargain hunting to a T!

  • Jeanette says:

Love the runner. Just gorgeous.Bad news about your fridge. πŸ™ Happy Stitching,

  • Sue says:

Gosh, I love your runner! And I love everything French General too.

I am so sorry about your appliance problems. That's terrible. Will the ceiling to the basement be able to be fixed okay?

You are right. They don't build appliances like they used to.

  • Patti says:

Holy crap, Linda. You and the if you didn't have bad luck…..thing. You've known you were going to need a new fridge, guess it decided it was time. Love the table runner. You really did switch it up, I didn't see that coming. Your getting tricky. lol

  • Donna says:

Love your table runner and the fabric!
I hate buying new appliances! I'd rather be buying fabric πŸ™‚
    Hugs,
    Donna

I love your table runner Linda. So pretty in Pom Pom de Paris.

  • Allie says:

The runner is really gorgeous – sorry about your fridge! Let's see that's two appliances that have gone lately? Watch out….it can be contagious! Love the duck.

  • Carol says:

Love your Endless Summer…what a pretty table runner! Great idea…OMG that little chick is so darn cute.

  • QuiltSue says:

I love the French General stuff too and have actually got a FQ bundle that I can't bring myself to use – how stupid is that?

I'm sorry about your fridge, but look on the bright side – water might have dripped through, but obviously didn't do any real damage to any of your really important things like LA machines!

  • Abby and Stephanie says:

Oldies are always the goodies. New things never last beyond their warranty! Ugh. But gorgeous table runner and it adds a sparkle to your island.

  • Brandie says:

I hate appliance trouble! Back is Dec. my oven broke and I have yet to make a decision. I have better things to do and so far no one has missed the baked goods (OK maybe we have missed them, but we don't need them).
I really am not sure about your Easter decoration. "IT" is giving me a funny look. It would probably make me screech finding it in the same room as I am in. I wouldn't trust it, "IT" looks shifty.

  • Joy McD says:

Love the table runner – it is sooo pretty! Hope you find a new fridge at the right price soon!

  • Mary @ Neat and Tidy says:

My heart goes out to you; how terrible to come home to that!

    But the tablerunner is beautiful!

  • Denise in PA says:

Gaahhh! What a mess. I'm so sorry – that just stinks. It would have been bad enough that it broke, but the water thing? Just yuck. I overflowed my washtub a couple of weeks ago with an errant sock when I was doing laundry and flooded the laundry room, part of the den next to it and the downstairs kitchen. What a freakin' mess, so I feel for you! But, your Endless Summer runner looks great!

  • Wendy says:

    Hi Linda,
Do you know I miss 'reading' you for a day or so and all sorts happens at your house! πŸ™‚
Now I LOVE shopping, ANY kind of shopping, lol, so if you like I can hop on over and go pick something out from the fridge department for you πŸ˜‰
I'm just not too good with measurements, when we bought our flat screen (stick-it-on-the-wall) TV last year I got the measurements a leeettle bit on the tight side … the TV fits into an alcove and lets just say I can't afford to let my fingers get fat!!! But I'm sure if you write down the exact size you want I could probably get the size you need just about right … hahaha Maybe not??
    Good luck shopping πŸ™‚
    Hugs Wendy x
P.S Love the table runner too πŸ˜‰

  • Mama Pea says:

Great job on that table runner! It looks great! That sucks about your fridge. Boo. Hiss. Mostly it sucks that the water all leaked into your basement! Hopefully not on Annie! I am guessing not, or we would have heard about it! LOL. Hope all is well with you otherwise, my friend.

  • Lisa says:

luv your table runner, very pretty…enjoy appliance shopping :O)

  • Kathy says:

That runner is SO PRETTY Linda.
Thinking back—I'll bet the power outage had something to do with the loss of your appliances.
You've had a bad run lately.

  • Kathy says:

….that is a 'chick'!! I'd call her (HER) Peeps. lol

  • Corrie says:

Your runner looks great both places. The chick makes me smile too.
