Instead of Girls Gone Wild, that is what I am calling my annual quilt retreat to Shipshewana with my girlfriends.  It is an annual trip that we make the first weekend of every February.  It is a fun filled trip with lots of sewing, shopping and eating!!!  Emphasis on the eating. ๐Ÿ™‚  It is an event I look forward to all year.  I can just sit and sew.  No pressures to get a gazillion things done.  Even though I love the time, by the end of the retreat, I miss my family so bad…I can’t wait to get home! LOL!

Thelma mentioned blogging about things with red in honor of Valentine’s Day this week.  I think that sounds like a fun idea and this post coincided nicely with that theme.  This year to commemorate my annual girlfriend retreat, I decided to make everyone a darling little quilt as a memento of our trip.

Yes, I am still obsessed ๐Ÿ™‚ inspired to make mini quilts!!

A mix of cheddar and light reproduction thimbles or tumblers with a gorgeous red border…YUMMY!!!  The red border is one of my most coveted red fabric in my stash.  It is from Old Glory Gatherings by Primitive Gatherings.  This quilt finishes at about 11×14″.  I made 4 of these little beauties.

Normally our girls’ retreat consists of myself and my friends Kathy and Patti.  This year I invited a dear friend, Ms. LB to be our Fourth.  She arrived a day late due to a big snow storm that hit the mid-west that week.  Only a quilter would set out at night and arrive at 3 AM for a retreat!!  LOL!!

I quilted all 4 quilts on the same backing.  I became my own little assembly line.  The first quilt all the way to the left was mine.  That was like the “test” quilt.   I figured if the first one looked good, they all would!  You know I had to put some feathers on them! ๐Ÿ™‚

After I quilted mine, I preceded down the line.

I think they turned out super cute!!

I only wish I would have taken a pic of all 4 quilts together or how about all of us girls together with them.  Well, it was a pajama ALL weekend kind of a retreat, so I don’t think any of us really wanted are pic taken! ๐Ÿ™‚ I think the girls really loved their little quilts!  And we all really enjoyed our time together.
