It’s done! My last project for 2010 is my December Le Petite – “Prairie Point Christmas” by Cara Wilson.
I don’t know why, but I had troubles trying to decide what I wanted to do for the borders. I wasn’t sure if I wanted to go exactly how the pattern had the borders. I decided to do something a little different than the pattern. After MUCH auditioning last night, this is what I decided on. I love it. I’m very happy with how this project looks! I have temporarily added a little prim star button on the top to see how I like it. What do you think? I’m going to see if it grows on me and if it does, I’ll attach it after I quilt it. Yippee, I have another project waiting to be quilted on my A-1!! I’m so excited. I’m counting down the days until next Wednesday when Jamie Wallen is coming over to set everything up!!
Scott will be installing some cabinetry in my new quilt studio. He went and picked them up yesterday.
Unfortunately for Scott this meant more heavy things to carry, but at least he could go down the stairs this time and not through the window! My studio only has one small window, so I didn’t want to go with dark cabinetry. I chose a solid, natural maple with a Shaker panel door. The cabinets are Amish made in Indiana. The were sooooo affordable. I didn’t want anything fancy, but after we priced stock cabinets at Lowe’s, these were actually a better deal and better made!
I love them! Looks like Sarge and Scooter do too! Scooter couldn’t believe his good fortune yesterday. There were big boxes and long pieces of tape for him to play with. A kitty playground!
It will be a quiet holiday for us this year. My dad is coming over tonight and we just plan on staying in, playing some games and eating yummy food. I wanted thank all of you for making the last part of 2010 such a special one for me! I feel so fortunate to have “met” such wonderful new friends. Reading blogs has changed my morning routine for the better. I can’t imagine my morning coffee without all of you! I would like to wish everyone
Yours is the second completed tree I have seen and it is a tempting project. Was it easy to do?
I bet the animals are big helps…;) Happy New Year Sis!
What a fun project, Linda! It's great to have more things ready for your A-1! Love the cabinets, too! You may never want to come out of your studio – lol! I think Sarge looks like he is saying, "well, OK, you can unload these as long as you play with me, too!" Have fun and Happy New Year!
Hello Linda, I found your blog through Sew Cindy's blog where you are the winner of her prize. That's awesome about your quilt studio and so funny about having to bring in the table for the longarm through the window. Have fun doing amazing quilting on your new longarm and I hope we will become friends. Visit my blog anytime: Carols Crafty Creations, carolscraftblog.blogspot.com.
Keep the star. I really have to make one myself! I got side tracked with more bags… not enough time in the day to do everything.
Your tree turned out very pretty and I love the little star you added! Might do that too. Great idea.
And oh wow, such lovely cabinets for your studio! glad your pets love them too, for they will probably often be there while you're there (o:
A very happy 2011 for you, Linda and I feel blessed to have met you this year!
Gelukkig nieuwjaar! xo
Love the star button! I'm agonizing over strips for a scrappy project…it's just a prototype but I'm still auditioning strip after strip!
Hurry up Wednesday!
I like the button too!!!
I can't wait for the report on your new A-1. You are going to have such fun. I will be so jealous when I put my monster quilt on my machine soon. LOL
I like your Prairie Point Christmas Tree, especially that touch of rosy pink.
I like the star and think you should keep it! It turned out really well and I like the border choices too! Congrats on the finish!
Nice cabinets too!
It is wonderful! Excellent choices for borders! And how nice will those cabinets be!
Love your LePetite project! Have a Happy New Year!
The quilt looks great – I like the star too.
I am sure Wednesday can't come soon enough – can't wait to see your new quilting studio!
Happy New Year!♥
I love your new cabinets. Thanks for the tip on that. I'll have to talk to you when I'm ready for some. 🙂
Your tree turned out so cute. I think the star looks cute. I was thinking this could make a cute advent calendar. You could have ornaments that get attached to the prairie points each day. Nice piecing. Looks good and square! 🙂
Love your tree quilt-you have done a great job there:)
Just wanted to pop in and wish you and your lovely family every blessing for the incoming year and I am looking forward to seeing more of your lovely work-I'm excited to see your quilt studio and to hear all about your longarm:))
Congrats on your win over at Cindy's! Just wanted to drop by and say Happy New Year and thank your for all the lovely comments you left on my blog over the holidays. Looking forward to the new quilt studio – where many wonderful things are going to happen in 2011!
The star looks great on the wallhanging. Those cupboards look really nice. I bet Scooter was in kitty heaven with those boxes & tape. Can't wait to hear how you go with the A-1. Hugs,

I love your tree! I found some cute gingerbread boy buttons that I also added. I will be curious to see how you quilt this. I started quilting down the prairie points but didn't like it at all so ripped out and just went under them. It was a fun project.
Thanks for the comments on my blog and may your new year be full of quilting projects! I'll be keeping an eye on studio updates…
Love your tree and a Happy New Year to you – I look forward to seeing what you are quilting on your Longarm – I am very envious…but so happy for you.
Love the colors in your tree. So Pretty and I like your boarders as well. It is beautiful.
Very beautiful tree. Happy New Year too !
I like the star button on the tree! The border you decided on looks just right.
Oh my, what lovely cabinets!! You must be ready to burst with excitement!!
Happy New Year to you and yours.
Your tree looks great. I like the start.
You will have to show us your studio when you get all set up.
I really like your version of this quilt. I'll be interested to see how you quilt it now.
Only 4 sleeps now till you get to play with your new toy.
Happy New Year to you and all of your family Linda.
Your Prairie Point Christmas turned out lovely! You did a great job! Mine is still in little pieces on my ironing board, not sure when I'll get to it, but I do have a goal of doing all the LePetite projects :o)
Wishing you and your loved ones a very happy new year!
Can't wait to see the finished sewing room! Bless your DH's heart for his work!
I LOVE the tree wall hanging. The border is perfect because it does not distract from the tree and allows it to pop!
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011 to you and your dear family!
