Hope everyone had a great weekend.  Mine went by so fast!  I feel like it was just Friday!  Anyone else feel like that?  I delivered Melissa’s quilt that I posted Friday.  She LOVED it!!  Much to my happiness and relief.  Honestly, I love that quilt too.  πŸ™‚  The thing is even before I have one quilt finished, I’m thinking about the next quilt I’m going to quilt.  Usually I have it out for inspiration.  To be honest, I’m usually thinking about the next three quilts I’ll be quilting!  My mind is always thinking about quilt designs.  Sometimes when I’m walking Sarge, I’ll start drawing quilting designs in the air with my finger.  Yes, I know, I have a slight problem. πŸ™‚  Whenever I finish a quilt, I usually clean up the studio.  A must because I accumulate sooooo much thread on the floor.  I have a bit of an Eleanor Burns bad habit of just tossing threads on the floor as I’m quilting.  Next, I usually practice a bit between quilt tops.  Some times it’s just doodles and some times I’m trying out my next quilt pattern I will be quilting.

These are some of my doodles.  Practicing like this gives me a chance to try some new threads and just relax and play a little.  Of course, I always throw some feathers into my practice time.  These doodles I tried with stitch regulator off to see how it would look.  Not bad.

I also finally sewed the binding on Brochante.  Love that Schnibbles!

I picked up a couple of things at my friend Daphne’s shop too.

Pretty little patriotic centerpiece to go the rest of my patriotic decor.  And…

A new Wood Wick candle.  These are the best candles.  Have you ever tried one?  My friend Missy got me hooked a few years ago when she gave me one.  They have a wonderful fragrance and the wick crackles like a fireplace when it burns because it’s made out of wood.  Very cool.

Well, it seems I’ve turned Sarge into a quilter too.

He was helping me cut out June’s Le Petite quilt.  πŸ™‚

I love the quilting motif! I usually draw on paper to practice what I want to do before I start. It does help! I hope my feathers can look as good as yours someday!

I throw all my threads on the floor too. It is easy to clean up on a laminate floor, they seem to start creating nests on their own before the quilt is done πŸ™‚

I think most of us has a little Eleanor in us ;-0 Love the doodling , looks great and your schnibbles is gorgeous!!!

Ok, I just finished quilting my Garden Twist quilt last night. And my design looked similar to your practice, leaf and swirl. Did you notice I said "similar"? Yours looks SOOOO much better. Very elegant and graceful. Mine….not so much. Your very good at what you do.

I like to make "air quilt designs too", love your practice quilting and how you made a flower w/the hooked feathers-very cool.

I like the little quilt you are using for a patriotic display. Looks like an easy quilt to make.

Your quilting is just incredible Linda! Now about those threads, I taped a small brown paper bag to the head of my machine, up by my thread area, and I put all of the threads there. It saves so much on cleanup time.

Free-spirited doodling between projects is such a good idea! My dog loves to "help" quilt, too. As soon as I lay out my quilt blocks on the floor, he immediately sprawls out on top of them, just so I don't forget that he's really the star of the show.

I love your flag centerpiece. I was decorating r,w,b yesterday but couldn't find my small flags.

I think we all have a little Eleanor Burns in us, Linda – some of us are just braver than others when it comes to tossing things on the floor – LOL! Your doodles are incredible! Hope to see them on a future project! Oh and Sarge – he's just too cute!!
    Cheers!

LOL I throw everything on the floor too, even when I'm at my regular sewing machine. And I have one of those thread catchers right beside me. I love your practice quilting. Those motifs are darling.

  • Linda says:

Oh I love everything!! Your "doodles" are wonderful! My husband laughs because I tell him that sometimes I dream about making bags and the designs come to me then!

  • Desley says:

Wish I had more time to doodles. But I do have a doodle book.

I have to stop throwing my threads on the floor – my cat picks them up and becomes multi-colored. Linda, I LOVE your doodles, such a light and airy design. Stunning. Love your Brochante too! And your patriotic display. Beautiful!

  • Abby and Stephanie says:

I love your doodles. Great patriotic table display. Perhaps Sarge is trying to hint that he wants his own quilt?

  • QuiltSue says:

    What beautiful doodles.

We don't have those candles here in the UK, but I wish we did – they look and sound wonderful.
