Lots of exciting things going on this coming weekend. I know two little girls that will be having a monumental birthday this weekend. More about that tomorrow. Saturday at the shop is our first Friendship Sit ‘n Sew group with myself and Pat, a quilter and fellow co-worker. Quilters can come and exchange strips, sit and sew or work on some of the projects From Edyta Sitar‘s new book Friendship Strips and Scraps. I think it should be a super fun day! I will be working on the quilt that graces the cover of Edyta’s new book. I was a little worried about gathering fabric for it because I have such a measly fabric stash. I think I will share that with you soon. I just love the way Edyta mixes her fabric up. I happened to mention it to Edyta and she offered to bring a kit for that quilt up to the shop. I was like “YES” that would be more than wonderful!! I think some of the other ladies jumped on board and bought kits too.
See the little white plug that now has an “x” marked on it, that was inserted backwards. We had no idea which way was the front of the plug or that it would matter. I had Jamie mark the x just in case, so I know for future reference. I just felt sooooo bad that Jamie drove back to my house. I’m so glad it was nothing. Jamie was even more relieved. He thought it was something very serious. He said the drive was well worth it. He is so sweet. While Jamie was here we went over a few more maintenance items. He also helped me pick out some threads out off a thread chart, that way I have an idea of what to order. The tread chart has hundreds of thread colors! I would order them all if I could, but that’s obviously not practical. Unfortunately, no time to really practice after Jamie left because I had to take the girls to dance.
Hand-sewing appears to be a dying art and those of us who can are become more and more venerated! I've been given Scout uniforms and hands-full of patches to sew on and mail back to the grandsons.
You're sister's quote: "My sister is a quilter… she can do anything!" echoed my older granddaughter's comment over the holidays: "Grandma can sew anything!"

I was very happy to learn that it was just a backwards plug!!! How lucky for you to have such a wonderful machine!! You must be jumping up and down with joy over it. Now you just need those glasses and some practice time and you will be all set!! :0)
I have been admiring the quilt on the front of Edyta's quilt. I know she specially put the fabric kits together for you and the class members. Is there any chance there is one left?

Did you know that I don't have any stash at all? I only buy fabrics for projects I am doing. Any leftover fabrics get cut up into strips and donated to my friends bin and we make charity string quilts. I should rename my blog to "Stashless quilter" LOL

Glad you A-1 is feeling better. About that Edyta Sitar pattern, we are doing that same one in our Knotty Girls group. I have my fabric strips cut and we making the great exchange next week. Your Sit and Stew group sounds interesting. Wish I lived closer. Happy Birthday to your girls!

Edyta's scrap quilts are just beautiful! It's a funny way to swap the half-triangle squares with friends, there's no better way to get a huge variety! Happy birthday to your daughters!

Edyta has such an amazing style, and I was so impressed to see how beautifully she mixed batiks with other fabrics. How awesome to get a kit from her! Have fun sitting and sewing!

Glad it was such a simple fix! Will you save one of those kits for me??? Please, please, please?? I want one! I want to do that quilt, too. I should finish my Tree of Life quilt. I am going to work on it Friday night. Hmmm…should I bring it on Saturday or star this on Saturday? Maybe I'll bring Tree of Life but pick up the kit on Sat and start it at home. What do you think? I LOVE that Edyta put the kits together for us. My stash, although huge, is too meager also. It doesn't all go together!

Love that Farmhouse Quilt pattern and kit. Glad your machine issue turned out to be a minor handler error and now you can get to it again. Running kids to activities provides a break from the machine, so it's all good. Really really love the Farmhouse quilt…sigh.
