My A-1 is taking a sick leave.  Well, it seems it’s little hiccup doesn’t want to be fixed.  The A-1 runs great, but the stitch regulator isn’t always responsive.  This causes long stitches and a bit of drag while I’m practicing.  Kind of annoying and it doesn’t look nice.  The fix was really easy with the replacement parts A-1 sent me.  Jamie talked Scott through the replacement over the phone yesterday morning.  I couldn’t try out the machine because I had to work at the shop.  When I got home, I was really excited to practice to see if the problem was fixed.  Nope.  Seems to be worse.  I called Jamie again and he listened to the machine.  He instructed me on checking some possible reasons for it, but nothing worked.  Still has the same problem.  Now Jamie has to come back to figure out what the problem is.  I know Jamie will figure it out and it will all work out, but I just want to practice so bad!!  Of course we are under a winter storm warning and if the roads are bad, I don’t want Jamie driving in it.  That will put off practicing for another day….

I did, however get a chance to practice a bit before the “fix it” drama.  Jamie has a really pretty design of a heart with feathers around it, “Hearts Take Flight.”  I just love it.  I thought I’d try it out.  It was last minute, so I didn’t advance my practice piece, but I did manage to find a couple of open areas for practice.

Pretty good for not drawing it out on paper first.  It’s totally freehand.  I found a couple of more open areas.

You can tell lots of doodling going on!!

I will definitely be quilting this design on a real quilt some day!

On the bright side, with my A-1 taking a mini leave of absence, I have some time to catch up on some piecing.  I’ve been working on Elaina’s Blissful “Toulouse.”  I was working very hard on piecing the 9 patch blocks.  It was getting a bit too monotonous.  I just had to stop and piece another big block together.  So now where there was one, there are two!

Hopefully, the weather will hold off and Jamie can make a house call to my sick A-1.

Sorry about your quilting troubles. Once I had to wait two weeks for my machine to be fixed and it was so frustrating! You are inspiring me to practice more……your quilting looks great! So does your piecing! I hope the weather holds off for you 🙂

OK, I love that block! Sew pretty!!

It's better that your machine is sick now while you are still in practice mode instead of when you have a quilt on there and you have to un-sew.

You are definitely going to be a natural with your A-1. I'm sorry he/she is not feeling well.

Enjoy a little time with your sewing machine – Elaina is patiently waiting for her quilt. 🙂

That can be frustrating, the new machines are so complex, we have to take them in now. I do have a good shop that I found and she knows everything about machines and makes sure mine has the newest things and cleaned up before it comes home.

Awww…poor A-1 – I'm sure Jamie will be a great doctor and I'll cross my fingers the roads are OK for his visit! Great practice, too! Pretty soon we will be longarming pals! I love the Elaina's Toulouse blocks – the colors are just so pretty!
    Cheers!

What a nuisance to have this little issue crop up just when you want to be practicing. Look at it this way–it will give your eyes a rest while you wait for the new glasses~!

Sorry about your A-1 troubles. Practice in your mind. They say that works the same as really doing it. You are doing awesome with your quilting. Love that Heart Takes Flight design. Wish I could use that on my machine. Keep up the good work. You are a natural.
