Last weekend was so nice. The weather was beautiful on Sunday!!! A great day for cleaning up the landscaping. I wouldn’t know anything about that, but Scott sure did! ๐
The next quilt I want to share is a quilt from my client Rita. It’s the perfect quilt to share with Spring in the air! I’ve had the pleasure to quilt for Rita before. She does such a beautiful job!

A gorgeous quilt in pastel batiks! I believe Rita used a couple of Bali Pops and yardage. This quilt is huge!!! I did not really realize how big it was until I took it out to measure!

I could barely fit it in the photos! This quilt is Moriah’s quilt, Rita’s niece. Rita thought she would like some type of flower quilting. My freehand allover flower…fit the bill!!!

Rita did have one request, she wanted her niece’s name somewhere quilted on the quilt. This was a new twist for me. I hadn’t up until now quilted words onto a quilt. So I practiced a few times on my whiteboard writing it out just so I could exercise my muscle memory and get a feel for the movement when I quilted it.

I love how it turned out on the quilt!

I quilted a flower to dot the “i”. I really tried to make her name just blend in with the design of the quilt. After I quilted the name, Scott kept saying to me that he sure hoped I got the name right!!! Ummm, me too!! ๐ LOL!

Scott took the photos of the quilt. He did a good job of capturing how perfect the stitches are. Sometimes I forget to take closeups of the quilting and stitches.

Rita used a gorgeous batik backing that matches perfectly!!

Specifics…all the quilting is freehand. I used Dream Blend Batting. LOVE it!!! Worked beautifully with the batik backing!! The thread is a gorgeous pale blue from Isacord.

I used it top and bobbin. I think between the Isacord and the Dream Blend Batting, the stitches just quilted like butter!! Rita was thrilled with her quilt. I’m sure her niece will be too. I know the girls loved it!! ๐
Hope everyone has a great day!
Perfectly beautiful! I'd change my name in a heartbeat just to snuggle under that beauty!
Wow! The quilting is just gorgeous! I like that its quilted "just right". Sometimes when I get my quilt top back from my quilter there is just sooo much quilting that the quilt is quite heavy. I like quilting that accents the quilt and adds to it, not overpowers it (does that make sense?). Anyway, I think you did a fantastic job and I love the name quilted into the quilt too!!
Love words quilted into quilts. It's lovely.
Beautiful quilt, fantastic quilting as usual… love the name quilted in… you did a GREAT job!
What's not to love! Batiks with your free hand quilting. From the back your flowers look like fluffy clouds on the blue backing. ๐
Tell Scott it is easy to pick out a few stitches if the name is spelled wrong….but changing appliqued letters on a baby quilt when your given the wrong spelling is a bit more challenging!!
Gorgeous quilting, as usual. I love the name! You have such a great quilting design eye.
Beautiful and perfect for spring. That is so cool how you quilted her name on the quilt. Well done!
How lovely – and I really like the name quilted into it, brilliant idea.
That design was perfect for the quilt and love how you stitched the name into it, wonderful idea.

Another fantastic quilt, Linda! I'm sure Moriah will be just tickled! I haven't quilted batiks yet – did you find it any different than regular cotton?
Cheers!
What a sweet quilt! I love how you quilted her name and dotted the i with a flower!!!
It's a fabulous quilt! I love the idea of having her name quilted in the design!!
Once again, gorgeous! I love how you put her name in the quilting design! How wonderful! She will love that! I recognize this pattern. Gave you good practice for my quilt. LOL.
Gorgeous! I love the idea incorporating her name into the quilting.
That is so pretty and putting her name in the quilting is so special…wonderful job!!
Moriah's quilt is gorgeous! The pastels say Spring! Your quilting is wonderful with the flower design and the name is precious!
Hugs,
Donna
Another great job! I love the idea of quilting in the name.
Rita is showing this quilt at the Marshall Quilt Show this weekend. She is also having it judged.
love this!! beautiful work- can't believe it is all freehand, such a talent.
