Wow, did I ever burn the midnight oil finishing this up!! It’s February’s Le Petite project, “Sweet Spot” Schnibbles by Carrie Nelson of Miss Rosie’s Quilt Co. Of course, like all the Le Petite projects so far, I love it!! I seem to like each one more than the next!
I used the fabric collection from Moda called Collection for a Cause, “Faith” by Howard Marcus. Proceeds benefit a great charity, The Coalition to Salute America’s Heroes (CSAH). That makes this little quilt extra “sweet” to me! The fabric is reproductions from the 1840s-1860s. I LOVE this fabric collection. Rich chocolate browns, tans, deep reds and rose shades. Love it. I love it, so much I bought a FQ bundle of it! π
I’m going to use my bundle for the Bonnie Blue pattern I picked up in Shipshewana a few weeks ago. I used some shirtings for the backgrounds. As with most Miss Rosie patterns, there are a quite a few pieces. That’s what makes them so fun to make and beautiful. This pattern was no exception. There are two versions in the pattern. I made the smaller one. It has 408 pieces to be exact! Including 100 flying geese!!
I used Monique Dillard’s Fit to be Geese Ruler. It’s my favorite way to make flying geese. It’s incredibly accurate!! I swore I would never make another quilt with flying geese after I made this quilt. Look how far I’ve come!!
Look who’s home “helping” me quilt.
Kristin and Scooter are home for Spring Break. Kristin is leaving for a little trip on Thursday, so Scooter will be staying with us while she is gone.
Sometimes I bring my sewing machine up from my sewing room, so I can spend time with the family while sewing.
Scott took a picture of me working hard to finish this up last night!
A sweet spot for my “Sweet Spot.”
We got lucky last weekend and the weather wasn’t quite as severe as predicted. Sounds like we have some more storms from the West headed our way, though. It’s really cold, but the sun is out, so I took a photo on my back porch.
Just needs to be quilted!! Hopefully, I can do it in the next few days. By the way, my baby quilt customer LOVED the quilting I did! I was so happy!!
Make sure you stop by Sinta’s or Sherri’s blog later today to see the parade of quilts!
Your Sweet Spot quilt top is so pretty! :0)
I'm going to have to break my piggy bank and go buy some of the fabric. I love that it also help CSAH. A must buy.
I think you sent to bad weather here. I'm still cleaning up after our storm. Today I need to get the branches chopped and in the waste can before tomorrow and before they take out my phone line.
Your customer would have been a crazy _ _ _ _ _ to not love that quilt. You did a fabulous job and you should be proud!
Great post! My kitchen table is exactly like yours! Don't those Schnibbles make ideal table toppers for them? I adore your version of Sweet Spot. I have a FQ bundle that Collection for a Cause group as well, but also have a layer cake of it. That layer cake ought to work for Sweet Spot, don't you think? I want to enlarge your photo to see exactly how you placed your colors!
I love it Linda! The different background fabrics look great π You have me thinking about using that line for my next LePetite project. I just finished Sweet Spot last night! This time my reason was the shorter month!! LOL!!

As much as I love your Sweet Spot quilt — and I do — my favorite things in this post are the pictures of Scooter! I think I need a cat. π
Two things — I really do love your CFAC Sweet Spot. I've been wishy-washing on that collection but your little quilt sold me! You made it work beautifully!
I'm also happy that you love the Fit to be Geese ruler. I love it but I also know I might be biased because Monique is a friend. The next time someone is skeptical about my recommendation, I'll send them to you! π
Wonderful quilt and colors.
That is why my kitties do not sew with me, lol.
