Swoon. Love it. This is my second version of Swoon I have had the pleasure to quilt. The first one being Thelma’s “Baby Swoon.” This version of Swoon was made by my very dear friend Patti for her niece’s wedding. What an amazing gift to receive!! Absolutely beautiful!
Funny. The first version of Swoon I quilted was a smaller version of the pattern, this one is much bigger! LOL! Patti kept the block size the same, but added an additional 3 blocks. Apparently, the groom is a very tall young man! I could hardly get the quilt in the photo. I was standing on a counter stool to take the pic! Patti did an amazing job on the piecing!!!
Patti requested an allover type quilting, but left the design up to me. I wanted to keep the quilting very flowing, kind of romantic. A swirly feather. Even though this is an allover type design, it is NOT, however an edge to edge pattern. All freehand. I was constantly rolling the quilt back and forth on my machine, so I could really intertwine the design.
It took much longer to quilt, but well worth the effort!! I challenged Patti to find my traveling path across the quilt!! 🙂 The varying size and shape of the feather swirls added so much movement to the quilt. Love.
The fabric is Ruby by Bonnie and Camille for Moda. The pattern is Swoon by Camille Roskelly. Available here.
I used a white Glide Thread on the top and So Fine in the bobbin. The Glide really added another beautiful element to the quilt. The batting is Bleached White Dream Cotton in the Select weight. The back was just as beautiful.
