No power still here. There ARE worse things than being without power. We are so very fortunate to be able to stay with my dad. I feel terrible for the families that have nowhere to go or cannot afford to stay somewhere. The next little town over from us has no power. The entire community is without power! It just breaks my heart. School is cancelled again today for the girls. The school is open to those who need a warm shelter and bathroom facilities. Perspective. A few days ago I was so irritated dealing with the “power outage” situation. Today, I’m counting my blessings that my family is safe, warm and together.

Hi Linda, I hate being without power even for a few hours, you don't know how much you use it until you are without it, same as water, we do take a lot for granted in our lives sometimes. I am glad you are able to go to your Dad's otherwise it would be really awful, like you say, there is always someone else far worse off. Hope your power is restored soon and you can get back to normal. Take care
There are always things worse off. It does help you to appreciate the modern amenities when we have to do without. Think of the pioneers who came before us paving the way for all the wonderful blessings that are bestowed upon us today:)

It is good to count your blessings and think about all the good things. It could always be worse. Question, I was just wondering last night, what do you do to keep your pipes from freezing when you have no power? I wouldn't know what to do. I'm counting my blessings every day. Hope you get power soon and that your house is okay.
We don't realize how much we rely on power till we lose it.
We have generator, but only good if my husband is home to start it.

I wondered what happened to you Linda! I'm glad you are all okay, safe, and warm. It is so frustrating to have things that you want to do and can't do them. Hang in there. I miss reading about your quilting activities.
Bummer! I sure hope they are working on that.

It reminds me of our '93 blizzard and we were without power for about 5 days but we made the most of it. Now we talk about how fun it was when we look back.

How frustrating for you! And you are so right, it is fortunate you have a place you can go. Whenever our power goes out, I can't help but hitting the light switches when I enter a room. Old habits die hard!
I hope your power comes back on soon and that you feel better. I didn't realize that you had a storm up there. I guess we were on the warm side of that one down here with a lot of rain…but at least we were above freezing this time so there was no ice. Take care!

So sorry you are still without power! People seem to be getting it back here. My secretary just got hers back this morning. I am glad you have somewhere to go. WMU has been opening up the empty dorm rooms for off-campus students; opening their dining halls to faculty, staff, families, and friends; and opening the locker rooms to the same groups of people so they can at least shower. I thought that was very thoughtful of them. I really feel for those who have nowhere to go, also. It is bitterly cold outside.
Hope you get power soon. I know how tough it can be. We lost power for a week after an ice storm. We are total electric so it was interesting to say the least.

We don't realize on a day to day basis just how dependent we are on our electric company! I hope you're feeling better, Linda. An entire community without power – I hope some folks have generators! I remember the Big Blackout…..but that was in summer, not so bad.
