I have gone and started a new project!  What’s wrong with me?  I have so many in progress, but I just couldn’t help myself!  I have been wanting to make The Buggy Barn “Tree Skirt” since last Christmas when I saw a picture on Lisa Bongean’s Blog.  I believe she uses it around her own tree.  I have never before made a “Crazy” Buggy Barn pattern.  I can say with quite certainty if I had not taken a little mini-class on how-to, I would’ve struggled.  Still not really sure I grasp the concept of all the “craziness,” but I think I can complete this project.

Again I was having trouble with lighting.  The green looks a little yellow in the pictures.  I am a terrible photographer.  I have half the panels pieced and cut to shape.  There are a total of 8 panels.  The tree skirt is a little small for my tree, so I’ll have to get a nice twiggy prim tree for it to go around!  I picked reproduction Civil War fabric for this project.  Plus, the shop where I work specializes in reproductions.  So a few may have followed me home!  I was going for an “olde time Christmas” look, so I didn’t want typical red/green fabrics.  I love it so far!  It is exactly what I wanted.  Here are the rest of the fabrics…

Once I get all the panels pieced and cut, I’ll figure out color placement.  The pattern is from the book  Stir Crazy by The Buggy Barn.

This is the photo on the back of the book.

I have a whole new appreciation for when I see a completed Buggy Barn quilt at a quilt show!  Stacking, cutting, shuffling and piecing The Buggy Barn way is a completely different concept, BUT it’s awesome.  I love how they look!  It’s definitely worth trying a pattern.  I am so glad I did.  We’ll see if I get it done for this Christmas…
